Guwahati Obstetrics & Gynaecological Society
The Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) is the federation representing practitioners of obstetrics and gynaecology in India. With 223 member societies and over 29,310 individual members spread over the length and breadth of the country, FOGSI is probably one of the largest membership based organization of specialized professionals.

| 2 | 8th March, 2025 From Health City Hospital, Guwahati On the occasion of International Womens' Day GOGS in association with Health City Hospital and UFS organised a Safe Motherhood Awareness 5K Walkathon. More than 270 participants including Gynaecologists and Doctors from various departments joined the Awareness Walk with playcards ensuring safe motherhood. The Event was flagged off by Fitness Coach Mrs Ruchi Bharadwaj Barah from Health city hospital premises. | 19 | Mid Term CME GOGS was held at Hotel Novotel Guwahati on the 21st of July 2024.The CME was organised in cooperation with various NE Societies like Shillong Society, Silchar Society, Nalbari Society, Barpeta Society, Nowgaon Society, Goalpara Society and Jorhat Society. Dr Bhaskar Pal and Dr Dibyendu Banerjee from Kolkata were the Chief Speakers. Formal Inauguration of the CME was done with a Lamp Lighting ceremony in presence of President & Secretary GOGS, President & Secretary SOGS, Faculties representing Other NE Societies, Dr Bhaskar Pal & Dr Dibyendu Banerjee. | 26 | With the motto of achieving Cervical Cancer elimination in India by 2030, FOGSI in association with GOGS had organised a Certified HPV vaccination training programme at Hotel Gateway Grandeur, Guwahati, on 4th of January from 2:00 PM - 4.30 PM. 55 Gynaecologists from Guwahati attended the programme. Dr Saswati Sanyal Chowdhury (East Zone HPV Coordinator), Dr Nilakshi Phukan Kumar(Master Trainer), Dr Dipti Goswami(Master Trainer) and Dr Himleena Gautam (Master Trainer) were the faculties present. The session started with a welcome address by Dr Dipty Goswami, followed by a Pre evaluation survey. The First module was on Cervical Cancer elimination and HPV vaccination facts.The second module was on HPV vaccination communication strategies. There were 2 role plays enacted by Dr Bibha Devi Goswami, Dr Sobhasmita Borthakur, Dr Asha Agarwal and Dr Kalpana Choudhury. Both the modules were followed by an interactive Question Answer session. A post evaluation Survey was done. The program ended with a vote of thanks by Dr Kalpana Choudhury after felicitation of the faculties. | January 2024 | |
| 27 | GOGS in association with AWAZ, the voice of ASSAM, organised a Multidisciplinary Health Camp at Borigog Hajo Higher Secondary School on the 24th of December '23. There were 42 gynaec patients. Dr Pallavi Deka and Dr Nikita represented GOGS. | January 2024 | |
| 28 | Anaemia Detection Camp was conducted today by the members of GOGS at RK High School, Kukurmara. A total of 122 students attended the camp. Questionnaire on Menstrual Cycle and Hygiene was given to each student and answered sheets were collected.Toffees were distributed. Dr Panchanan Das (President GOGS) briefed them about Anaemia.Dr Bibha Devi(VP) and Dr Preety Choudhury(VP) gave an awareness speech on Menstrual Hygiene. Haemoglobin of all 122 students were tested. 5 students Hb% was below 7gm/dl, 21 students Hb% was between 7-9gm/dl and rest were above 9gm/dl. All students were examined and free Iron tablets and syrups were distributed amongst those who needed.
